Research journey

He earned his MS in Electrical Engineering from Government College University Lahore before moving to Taiwan for doctoral study at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Supported by a fully funded university scholarship, he completed a PhD in Electrical Engineering with a research specialisation in artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning.

His academic journey combines sustained teaching, applied research and postgraduate supervision. In Pakistan, he served for approximately one and a half years as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Riphah International University Islamabad. He later spent approximately three and a half years as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Systems at the University of Sargodha, where he also received a research productivity award.

Dr Mushtaq currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Yuan Ze University in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

Research contribution and impact

Dr Mushtaq has published more than 52 journal articles, including work appearing in reputable SCIE- and Scopus-indexed journals, and has contributed more than 20 papers to national and international conferences. His Google Scholar profile records 1,922 citations and an h-index of 23.

His innovation activity also extends to intellectual property. He published a United States patent in 2026 and has submitted a further patent application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
