Reviewers read the figures first
Many reviewers look at the figures before the text, and form a view of the paper from them. A figure that cannot be read at print size, that encodes the wrong variable on the axis that matters, or that needs the caption to be interpreted is a genuine obstacle to the science being assessed fairly.
This service reviews visual material as an editor or reviewer would. For each figure: what is the one thing it should communicate, does the chart type suit that, is the encoding honest — truncated axes, cherry-picked ranges and misleading colour scales are integrity issues as well as clarity ones — and can it be read without the caption. For tables: whether a table is the right form at all, and whether the layout leads the eye to the comparison that matters. For a graphical abstract: whether it summarises the contribution or merely decorates it.
We also check the technical requirements of your target journal — resolution, dimensions, file format, colour mode, font embedding — which are a common reason manuscripts are returned before review. The data and the figures remain yours; we advise on how they are presented.
